ST. PETER PRIESTS AND DEACONS

Father Earl F. Simone
Fourth and present pastor, Rev. Earl Simone joined St. Peter in 1992. A dynamic man with great vision and high energy, Father Simone obtained permission from Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk to build the Family Life Center to accommodate the expanding activities of the parish and its ministries.

The Center houses a cafeteria, gymnasium, Senior Center, Early Childhood Center, Youth Ministry rooms, several meeting rooms and the parish administrative offices. It was dedicated by the Archbishop in September 1994.

Father Simone works tirelessly to improve the spiritual life of the parish and provide meaningful liturgical worship services. Parish missions have been held annually since 1996. In addition to the annual First Communions and Confirmations, and frequent Reconciliation services offered to all parishioners. A Good Friday ecumenical service with members of other Christian denominations adds an extra dimension to the annual observance of the Easter Triduum.

Rev. Lawrence Krusling
Rev. Krusling served as St. Peter's third pastor from 1982 to 1992. During this time, parish membership grew to over 1800 families. School enrollment increased dramatically, and the convent and school basement, which had once been used as the parish church, were renovated to provide additional classrooms, a kindergarten, a computer lab, and offices for CCD and other parish activities. Allen K. Miller
In 1982, Miller was appointed St. Peter's first permanent deacon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Robert Borgerding
In 1986, Rev. Mr. Robert Borgerding was appointed as the second permanent deacon of the parish. In July, 1989, following Father Maue's death, Rev. Walter "Sandy" Macpherson was appointed associate pastor. He shared his gifts of listening, caring and teaching with all parishioners, especially with the RCIA and CCD staff and students. In the summer of 1992, as Father Krusling's pastorate came to an end, the parish helped him celebrate his 40th anniversary as a priest, just prior to his transfer to Cincinnati.

 

 

 

Robert M. Correale
Bob Correale was born and raised in Troy, New York. After high school, he was a member of the Franciscan Order, completing a bachelor's degree in philosophy and classics from St. Bonaventure University. Later he worked as a newspaper reporter while doing a master's in English at Siena College, N.Y. From 1957-1960, he taught at Schylerville (N.Y.) High School, where he met and married the former Jeanne Ferguson. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati in 1971. Since 1967, Bob has been a professor at Wright State, specializing in medieval studies and history of the English language. He chaired the English Department at WSU from 1974-1980, and has held adjunct teaching positions at Penn, Rutgers, and State University of New York at Albany.

Correale graduated from the two-year Lay Pastoral Ministry Program in October 1995. He completed the three-year study of Deaconate formation in May 1998. Bob and Jeanne have three children and five grandchildren. Both have been active members of St. Peter Parish since moving to Huber Heights in 1967, serving in liturgical ministries and various other parish activities. Jeanne has also taught at St. Peter School and has served on the Parish Council.

 

John (Jack) E. Gould
Jack Gould, born 1934 in Loveland, Ohio, is a licensed practicing attorney in Springfield, Ohio, with memberships in the Ohio State Bar Association and the Clark County Bar Association.

Gould's involvement in both church and secular ministry include active work with Mercy Health System-Western Ohio, St. Vincent de Paul Society and The Nehemiah Foundation. His special ministerial interest is centered on Ecumenical and Social Justice Outreach Programs. He is an active lay minister, serving as lector, extraordinary minister of Communion, choir member, and Financing Committee member.

His past affiliations and Christian centered activities include President, Clark County Mental Health Association; Trustee, St. John's Nursing Home; Trustee, Clark County Jail Chaplancy Board.

In October of 1995 Jack graduated from the two-year Lay Pastoral Ministry Program. He completed the three-year study of Deaconate formation in May of 1998.

Jack and his wife Joan have been married for 35 years. They have five adult children and four grandchildren. Joan has been the church organist at St. Teresa Parish for the past 25 years.

 

Timothy J. Harris
Tim Harris, born 1943 in Sandusky, Ohio, has been married to Kathryn (Katie) Harris for 34 years. They became St. Peter Parish members in 1979.

In 1984, the Harris' left to spend a year in the Middle East in Kuwait and again in 1989. That same year, they relocated to South Bend, Indiana, where they joined Queen of Peace Parish in Mishawaka. Both Tim and Katie were active in the R.C.I.A. The Harris family returned to St. Peter's in 1991 where they became involved in the R.C.I.A. program under Deacon Robert Borgerding. Tim and Katie have been extraordinary ministers of Communion since mid-1994. Tim has served as lector since that time.

Tim graduated from the two-year Lay Pastoral Ministry Program in October 1995. He completed the three-year study of Deaconate formation in May 1998. His employment includes ten years in automotive and heavy truck repair and more than twenty years in various aspects of data processing. For the past seven years Harris has worked in facilities management.

Father Victor Ries, 1968 - 1982
By 1970, Father Ries, St. Peter second pastor, completed the construction plans for a rectory and administration office.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Father Leander Schweitzer
First pastor of St. Peter in 1960, Father Schweitzer purchased a home on Rosalie Drive, which served as the first parish rectory. Aided by several volunteers, he converted the garage into an office and a small chapel for weekday masses.

Father Schweitzer celebrated his 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood in 1966. Grateful parishioners expressed their appreciation by offering numerous prayers for him and giving him a trip to Rome. Two years later, after eight years of service to the parish he had begun, he was assigned to St. Margaret Mary Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. (back)

 

Charles (Chuck) Wright (photo not available)
Chuck Wright, born and raised in Huber Heights, attended Wayne High School. He holds a degree in Fire Science Technology from Sinclair College. Wright joined the Huber Heights Fire Department in 1973, where he now holds the rank of Lieutenant.

Chuck married Connie Behrman in 1983 at Our Lady of Mercy where they have been members of Our Lady of Mercy and St. Peter. Wright has ministered as a lector and Eucharistic minister. He is also a volunteer with the Pastoral Care Department at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Wright graduated from the two-year Lay Pastoral Ministry Program in October 1998. He completed the three-year study of Deaconate formation in May of 2001.
