Three Year Olds | Four Year Olds | Kindergarten Readiness


Areas of Concentration for 3 Year Old Preschool

  • Activities should be theme based and developmentally appropriate
  • Theme related activities to promote general awareness of their world
  • Avoid worksheet type activities
  • Socializing (interaction with other children)
  • Cooperative play related to themes: interest centers
  • Following two-part directions
  • Organizational skills: Clean up, returning items to appropriate places after work or play
  • Tearing paper and gluing
  • Tracing on straight and curved lines
  • Cutting on straight and curved lines
  • Managing clothing: zippers, buttons, shoes
  • Activities promoting the understanding of position words: top, bottom, in-between, center, over, under, etc.
  • Body parts
  • Patterns the children repeat: clap hands, stomp fee, touch head, etc.
  • Limited exposure to letters, numbers, shapes, colors
  • Gross Motor: Walking on balance beam, skipping, hopping
  • Lots of exposure to books.
